Marissa Mayer as Yahoo CEO
Has any recent hiring gotten as much attention as Marissa Mayer as Yahoo CEO? I can’t think of any. Can you?
My take: a lot of it is a sexist response to a tech woman being in charge. Would it be this attention-getting if she were 37 year-old man? I don’t think so. In fact, it’d probably be, “good for him! He’s super smart. Let’s see what he does.”
And I just don’t understand people who are freaking out about her being pregnant. “Wow, what are she and Yahoo THINKING?” They, and she, are thinking she might do a good job. If there’s no room for a CEO to have a baby in this society, I want out.
Am I reading into things too much here?
